New Zealand Trade and Enterprise congratulates the winner and runners up of the 2010 Focus on Health Challenge.
Mesynthes Ltd has been named the winner of Focus on Health 2010 business development competition.
The international panel of judges considered that Mesynthes had clarity of vision and strong business strategy for growth in the United States health market, and the potential to deliver the highest reward. Mesynthes has already achieved 510(k) approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Endoform product, and has a strong pipeline of other products to be developed and taken to market.
Mesynthes will receive cash and in-kind prizes worth nearly $100,000.
Emendo's CapPlan capacity and operational management software solution and Matakina's Volpara™ Quantitative Breast Screening were both awarded runners up prizes and were commended by the judges for their strong presentation and business plan, and established business model (Emendo) and strong leadership and advisory team (Matakina).
Emendo and Matakina will share a cash and in-kind prize package worth $110,000.
A special judge's award for the product or service deemed to be the most innovative on the basis of the uniqueness of the idea was awarded to B2P Limited's bacterial water and food testing technology which is considered to be an easy-to-use, low cost, portable solution to the huge United States problem of food safety.
